François-Marie Bréon

LPSL (France, Paris)

François-Marie Bréon is a physicist and climatologist at the Laboratory of Climate and Environmental Sciences. His initial specialty was the use of satellites to observe and understand Earth’s climate. He subsequently explored other topics, particularly Earth’s energy balance and the carbon cycle, and contributed to the writing of the chapter “Natural and Anthropogenic Radiative Forcings” in the IPCC’s Fifth Assessment Report, as well as the “Summary for Policymakers.”
He served as a visiting professor at the Collège de France during the 2024–2025 academic year, where he taught a course on climate change.

APOLO is an international series of conferences held once every two years devoted to the use of light polarization for remote sensing.
The 5th APOLO Conference will be held in October 4-9, 2026 at the Conference space of the Hotel Costão do Santinho (Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil).
